Directions by car:
Leave A1 at J14 (Huntingdon) Follow
A14 towards Cambridge, but bear right
onto M11 E of Cambridge. Leave M11
Jn10.
In centre of Saffron Walden (lowest
point) turn sharp left at the traffic lights onto B1053.
About ½ mile pass Tesco on right!
After Radwinter, turn right at crossroads
after sharp dip/bend just before Plough pub.
Turn left in centre of Gt Sampford.
Descend into Finchingfield, crossing narrow
bridge with pond on right and bear
immediately right up the hill.
Entering Wethersfield, Church Hill House
is just beyond the village green on left, opposite Church and
next to Garage. Go to map from North
From the South - M25/M11
Take the exit for Stansted Airport and
A120. Coming from the South the first exit is the A414
then, after about 7 miles there are two exits close together.
You need the 2nd of these.
Stay on A120 for approx 7 miles.
Take Dunmow South exit (brown sign
to Blake House Craft Centre).
After 0.4 mile, turn right at roundabout
(Stebbing, Felsted, Rayne)
After 0.2 mile turn left on first
slip road, ignore the 1st right ((Coco Nuts Play!) but after
100 yds take 2nd right into St Edmunds Lane (Church End
sign). At T junction at end of lane (0.5 mile) turn
right.
This is the B1057. Go through Bran End
and on into Great Bardfield (about 6.5 miles from the T
junction) . Follow signs to Finchingfield, Saffron Walden
and Steeple Bumpstead. Turn left at the T junction in
Bardfield, over narrow bridge and on to Finchingfield (1 mile).
Here, bear right over the bridge and right up the hill
and 2 miles on to Wethersfield. Church Hill House, with
a bright red door, is at the top of the Village Green, just
after the filling station and directly opposite the Parish
Church.
